Florida offers more than palm trees and water carries. Its public-access golf includes dramatic dunes, adventurous greens and tournament venues that make a round feel like a special occasion.
This is Break 90 Golf’s editorial shortlist for a trip where course character matters more than price. It is a research-based guide using official course information, rather than a firsthand review or an official statewide ranking. We prioritize courses that accept day guests without requiring a private membership or overnight stay. Individual courses at the same property count separately.
Pricing checked October 15, 2026. All amounts are USD per player. Published rates are planning references, subject to availability and change. Taxes, gratuities, travel and lodging are extra unless specifically included. Two courses use live pricing and do not publish a dependable flat fee; we identify those rather than inventing a range.

1. TPC Sawgrass — THE PLAYERS Stadium Course
Ponte Vedra Beach · Best for a bucket-list tournament experience
Pete Dye’s Stadium Course earns its place through the combination of demanding shot placement and a finish familiar to anyone who watches THE PLAYERS. The island-green 17th is the headline, but the appeal is testing your decisions on a course built to expose mistakes.
Price: Published rates start at $775 September–May and $550 June–August, including the green fee, cart, group forecaddie and warm-up balls. Day guests can reserve within 14 days; longer advance reservations are available through stay-and-play packages.
Important: The official booking page lists the Stadium Course as closed October 19–November 8, 2026. Check the maintenance calendar before arranging travel.
Break 90 approach: Choose tees for your normal carry distances. On 17, commit to a comfortable middle-of-green shot instead of chasing the flag.

2. Streamsong Red
Bowling Green · Best for strategic golf in dramatic terrain
The Coore & Crenshaw design combines dunes, demanding bunkering and greens that reward an approach from the right angle. Its Biarritz-style 16th, with a deep swale across the green, is a reminder that reaching the putting surface is only part of the task.
Price: See the shared Streamsong pricing below; the current day-guest green fee is $425.
Break 90 approach: Decide where you want your next shot to come from before choosing a target from the tee. A longer approach from the correct side can be the easier play.
3. Streamsong Blue
Bowling Green · Best for dunes, elevation and visual drama
Tom Doak’s Blue moves through substantial elevation changes, sandy terrain and ponds. The opening tee provides a broad view of the property; the water-crossing seventh supplies a memorable par-3 test. This is an appealing choice for golfers who enjoy the way a routing responds to unusual land.
Price: $425 current day-guest green fee, with the shared fees below.
Break 90 approach: Use carry yardages rather than visual guesses when water or elevation changes the picture. Pick a tee that leaves manageable forced carries.
4. Streamsong Black
Bowling Green · Best for bold greens and creative approaches
Gil Hanse’s Black emphasizes scale, rolling ground and distinctive green shapes. The short second plays toward an elevated green with false edges, while the ninth uses a punchbowl target. Golfers who enjoy figuring out how a ball will move after landing should find plenty to consider.
Price: $425 current day-guest green fee, with the shared fees below.
Break 90 approach: Study the landing area as well as the flag. Around sloping greens, a simple shot that uses the ground can be preferable to an ambitious high pitch.
Streamsong pricing and access
For October 1–December 14, 2026, Red, Blue and Black list $425 day-guest green fees or $375 resort-guest green fees; accommodation is separate. Day guests can book within 30 days. Riding adds $35 per person and requires a group caddie at $60 per player plus gratuity: a $520 riding baseline for a day guest before any additional charges. Walking caddie options have different fees. Seasonal walking-only rules apply December 24–February 28. Confirm the full quote and caddie requirements when reserving.

5. Cabot Citrus Farms — Karoo
Brooksville · Best for multiple routes and adventurous greens
Kyle Franz’s Karoo offers broad fairways, alternative lines and bold putting surfaces. Short grass around greens makes recovery choices part of the experience. Its attraction is the opportunity to play a hole differently on a return visit.
Price: For October 2–December 13, 2026, day-guest rates are $350 Sunday–Thursday and $395 Friday–Saturday. A cart is $35 per player extra. Check the shared Cabot booking notes below.
Break 90 approach: Wide fairways do not make every angle equally useful. Favor the line that gives you space to miss your approach safely.
6. Cabot Citrus Farms — Roost
Brooksville · Best for variety across sand, meadows and oaks
Roost brings together sandy scrub, open areas and wooded settings, with substantial changes in elevation and a distinctive sinkhole feature. Its collaborative design gives this second Cabot course a separate identity and makes a two-course visit worth considering.
Price: The same current day-guest schedule applies: $350 Sunday–Thursday; $395 Friday–Saturday, plus optional cart charges and any required caddie fees.
Break 90 approach: Reassess club selection when the setting changes. A sheltered tee shot and an exposed approach may face very different wind conditions.
Cabot booking notes
The prices above are visitor rates, not Florida-resident discounts. Caddie requirements change seasonally; winter requirements can add to the total. Review the current policy for your date and tee time, especially from December onward. Golf-only reservations are offered, so staying on property is not a condition of public access.

7. TPC Sawgrass — Dye’s Valley
Ponte Vedra Beach · Best for a second Sawgrass round
Designed by Pete Dye and Bobby Weed with player consultant Jerry Pate, Dye’s Valley provides another public-access option at Sawgrass. Consider it when you want a two-course visit or the Sawgrass setting at a lower published starting price than Stadium.
Price: Starts at $350 September–May or $250 June–August, with the same listed package inclusions described for Stadium. The official page lists a December 5–15, 2026 closure; verify availability.
Break 90 approach: Build your plan around keeping the ball in play. A recognizable resort name is no reason to move back a set of tees.

8. Southern Dunes Golf & Country Club
Haines City · Best for a distinctive inland Florida layout
Steve Smyers used notable elevation changes and extensive bunkering to give Southern Dunes a strong identity. Large, contoured greens and high bunker faces put a premium on choosing sensible approach targets. It is a useful addition to an Orlando-area golf trip when you want a different landscape.
Price: Dynamic pricing; obtain a live quote. The club publishes no single standard fee on its rate page. Posted booking prices are subject to 7% sales tax, and reservations can be made up to 180 days ahead.
Break 90 approach: Treat difficult bunkers as hazards to route around. An extra club toward the safe portion of a green may save a recovery shot.

9. Orange County National — Panther Lake
Winter Garden · Best for a varied Orlando-area championship round
Panther Lake moves among meadows, pines, wetlands and lakes, with elevation changes that add variety to the routing. Elevated, contoured greens make approach selection important. Forward tees offer shorter carries, which matters much more to a good day than the yardage printed at the back of the scorecard.
Price: Live booking quote required. Check the official reservation system for your date, tee time and inclusions; do not treat an old promotional rate as a current price.
Break 90 approach: Match the tees to your comfortable carry, then aim approaches at generous sections of the green.

10. Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne
Key Biscayne · Best for a coastal municipal experience
Crandon’s barrier-island setting includes mangroves, saltwater lakes and views toward Biscayne Bay. The Devlin/von Hagge design provides a distinctly South Florida counterpoint to the inland dunes courses higher on this list.
Price: Public riding rates list $159 Tuesday–Thursday and $179 Friday–Sunday and holidays. A $120 Monday special is also listed. Confirm taxes and your exact date when booking.
Break 90 approach: Choose targets that leave room away from trouble. A bogey earned with a safe recovery is usually better than gambling on a narrow opening.

Plan the trip around the round
Secure the tee time before committing to flights or nonrefundable rooms. Ask about aeration recovery, temporary greens, caddie charges, cancellation deadlines and cart restrictions. For a multi-round visit, compare the complete stay-and-play cost against separate day-guest bookings.
And keep the scorecard in perspective. Choose tees that let you play normal golf, allow time to warm up and enjoy the design you traveled to see. For a more affordable itinerary, start with our Florida value-course guide.
